From AR-HR — Why Does the Humane Society of the U.S. Condemn Pet Purchase?

This is an extremely thought provoking, albeit short, post by Erica Saunders over at the Animal Rights or Human Responsibility  blog about the perceived benefits of adoption over purchasing from a breeder. I must admit that I initially sided fully with the HSUS, but then realized that there are many sides to the question: there are many breeders out there who are not cruel and ignorant, and there are many people who may wish to buy a purebred puppy for their lifestyle. And, of course, many other important issues to consider as well. Anyway, I still sit on the fence, but I urge you to take a peek at this piece.

  1. Thanks so much for reading the article, responding and most especially thinking the ideas over.
